Heritage Care and Visitor Service Level 2
To achieve a full Level 2 NVQ in Museums, Galleries and Heritage (Heritage Care and Visitor Services), you must complete 7 units including the 5 mandatory units.
Mandatory Units (Complete All 5)
- Unit 1 Provide general assistance to visitors
- Unit 2 Monitor the security and environment of items
- Unit 3 Implement emergency procedures to maintain the safety of people and items
- Unit 4 Contribute to the care of the premises
- Unit 5 Assist the work of colleagues in the organisation
Optional Units (Choose 2)
- Unit 6 Control the security of items in the workplace
- Unit 7 Contribute to the care of items
- Unit 8 Provide information on specific items for visitors
- Unit 9 Provide guided tours for visitors
- Unit 10 Assist in the display and exhibition of items
- Unit 11 Move items within the premises
- Unit 12 Transport items to new locations
- Unit 13 Sell goods and services to visitors
- Unit 14 Contribute to the effectiveness of work flow
The qualifications are divided into units and elements; they are then broken down into performance criteria, or the national standards.
Candidates have to prove that they are competent at their job and are asked to provide evidence in various ways:
- Observed in the work place by the assessor
- Witness statements from their line manager and colleagues
- Professional discussion with the assessor
- Written questions and work products
